REVOLUTION POSTER

Course: ART102 - 2D Foundations

Task: For this project, students will make their own personalized protest poster. It is the student’s choice what to rebel against. Remember, no grievance is too small! They could protest something as seemingly insignificant as the coarseness of the toilet paper the university provides, or that only Pepsi products are available in the vending machines. Students are allowed to do something political but are not obligated to. If it matters to them, then it is fair game. Please do not direct your protest against another student and/or instructor.

Research component: As a class, visit the library around the time this project is assigned. The library exercise should pertain to locating revolution and propaganda imagery and citing images in a bibliography. Find examples or revolution/propaganda posters. Try to determine both formal and conceptual strategies common to most of them and adapt your protest to this format. Do not completely copy the format of most posters that you find in research. Rather, try to adjust what imagery and text you use to a style in the tradition of propaganda posters.
